Violet awoke. Looking down, she saw her father tying her feet together. Immediately terrified, she wondered what she had done to deserve such a thing. “Daddy?” Violet questioned, watching Ralph hold the thick rope and continue tying up her legs. She felt her heart beating faster. “Daddy, you are scaring me.”
The bedroom was quiet other than the sound of Ralph wrapping his old rock-climbing rope around his daughter. Even though Violet became increasingly irritated, Ralph did not care in the slightest. Unfortunately, he had snapped this morning and killed his wife and two sons. All it took was a pillow. However, for his daughter, he had to do something spectacular.
“I’m sorry, Vi,” Ralph said as he tied the final knot, “but this is for the best. I love you too much to let you live in a world without me.”
Violet’s eyes filled with tears as she realized her father would kill her. She begged and pleaded, but it was all for naught. Ralph had made up his mind. He was going to make sure his daughter died with him.
Ralph dragged his daughter by the rope on her feet. He went outside and headed towards the barn. It was an old, abandoned structure that Ralph had been eyeing for weeks. It would be the perfect place to die, and it was only just inside the forest behind his home.
Ralph opened the door to the barn and dragged Violet inside. He tied her to a support beam and went to get the gas can he had brought with him.
